I began my nursing career as a certified nursing assistant and a year later I went on to become a Licensed Practical Nurse graduating from Sanford Technical College. In 1988 I Obtained my Bachelors in nursing from Texas Woman's University.
As a Registered Nurse I worked in many capacities in and out of the hospital setting, including emergency and intensive care nursing. I am currently an adjunct nursing faculty at Wilson Community College and take students through their mental health rotations.
When my son left for college I went back to school and received my Masters in Advanced Practice as a Family Nurse Practitioner from East Carolina University in 2014. During my family practice I developed a desire to further my education in mental health and received a Post Masters as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner from Frontier Nursing University. Prior to coming to Gupta Psychiatry, I was practicing in a federally qualified health care system in snow hill providing both primary and psychiatric care.

I believe in a holistic approach to healthcare and want to help people achieve the highest level of mental, emotional, physical and spiritual health possible. I feel when these elements are in balance this enhances the ability to reach a positive state of health. I am passionate about serving a population that is vulnerable and often overlooked and needing an advocate.
