Monejah, King PMHNP
Monéjah King is an accomplished healthcare professional, holding a Master of Science in Nursing degree, as well as the credentials of APRN and PMHNP-BC. Born in New Bern, North Carolina, she spent most of her formative years in Raleigh. Monéjah's educational journey includes completing her Associate Degree of Nursing at Durham Technical Community College, followed by earning her Bachelor's in Nursing at Winston Salem State University. She then went on to obtain her Masters of Science in Nursing at Walden University. Her psychiatric nurse practitioner training was conducted at Duke University Hospital Behavioral Health, Cape Fear Valley Medical Center- Behavioral Health, and in private practices.
Monéjah has gained significant practical experience in a variety of healthcare settings, such as behavioral health emergency departments, psychiatric dual diagnosis units, and free-standing inpatient psychiatric hospitals. Moreover, she has several years of level 1 trauma center Critical Care experience, which further attests to her expertise in the field of nursing. Monéjah has also served on the front lines of Covid-19 intensive care units in New York, North Carolina, South Carolina, & Oregon, which has provided her with invaluable first-hand knowledge of the occupational trauma that healthcare professionals face.
Her passion for creating a safe space for healthcare professionals to cope with daily stressors, thrive in their careers, personal lives, and mental health is admirable. Monéjah's mission as a provider is to deliver culturally sensitive, holistic, and comprehensive mental health care, and to help reduce the stigma surrounding mental health. Her favorite populations to support are those experiencing depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, childhood trauma recovery, and mental health concerns surrounding cultural/societal pressures. Monéjah offers both in-person and Telehealth appointments to provide flexibility and increased accessibility.
