IOP Testimonial | Gupta Psychiatry & Wellness

Listen to Lauren's Intensive Outpatient Program testimonial experience she had at Gupta Psychiatry & Wellness in Raleigh, NC. This program is for substance abuse patients that want to go through an outpatient program. At Gupta Wellness we believe in the utilization of evidence-based treatment, the engagement of family systems in the recovery/treatment process, utilization of community supports, the developing of deep meaningful relationships with others, and facilitating positive change within the whole person (mind, body, and spirit) not just controlling the substance use. We believe that addiction is a disease of the brain that not only deeply affects the patient, but impacts the systems in which the patient is a part of. Effective treatment is one that uses a multifaceted approach to meet the patient where they are and support them in facilitating positive change in all areas of their life. Our IOP program is 8 weeks minimum that can be extended to meet the individual needs of the patient. Our programs provide an intensive level of care & support not typically available outside a residential program. This platform is designed for treatment of primary substance use disorders that falls between a more restrictive inpatient/residential level of care and the less restrictive outpatient level of care. Patients are able to get extensive support and focused care while continuing their normal work and home life routines. Partial Hospitalization Program Generally referred to as PHP, is optimal for individuals needing an outpatient detox or stepping down from residential or inpatient care. At least 20 hours of clinical services each week are provided including group therapy, individual and family counseling and daily medication monitoring. Intensive Outpatient Program At the IOP level of care, individuals participate in at least 10 hours of clinical services a week for a minimum of 8 weeks that can be extended to meet the individual needs of the patient. Outpatient Medical Detox Included in both PHP & IOP programs, is an option for outpatient medical detox based on the severity and intensity of the substance use. Assessments & Admissions Gupta Wellness is open five days a week for confidential assessments and referrals. Our intake department is clinically staffed with a licensed therapist that can discuss program criteria and determine a treatment plan that best suits the patient's needs. Please call for assistance or to make a referral. www.guptapsychiatry.com

Spravato Testimonial | Gupta Psychiatry | Ketamine Treatment

Listen to Joy's testimonial experience with Spravato she had at Gupta Psychiatry & Wellness in Raleigh, NC. www.guptapsychiatry.com More information on Ketamine Treatments Ketamine Nasal Spray & Infusion: An Effective Treatment for Chronic Pain and Mental Illness If you are even slightly familiar with ketamine, it is likely from its use as a street drug typical at parties. However, doctors can give ketamine infusions to treat many illnesses like chronic pain and severe depression. These infusions help patients feel like themselves again and live with less pain. Below are some reasons why ketamine infusions may be the right treatment choice. We can help you live as active and pain-free as possible using ketamine. If you have been experiencing chronic pain or mental illness, ketamine may help relieve your symptoms and send you on the path to an improved quality of life. Our team will work with you to find out if ketamine treatment is right for you. Call us to talk with a doctor about your options, or schedule an appointment online. Ketamine Infusions for Pain and Depression Ketamine was first widely used on battlefields during the Vietnam War when surgeons in the field didn’t have access to other forms of anesthesia during surgical procedures. The drug was developed as an alternative to phencyclidine, otherwise known as PCP. It has been proven safe and effective as a medical anesthetic when administered properly. And unlike other anesthetics, which lower heart and breathing rates significantly, ketamine doesn’t have these effects. Ketamine is also really effective for people with PTSD, severe depression, or other mental health conditions. And the effect on their mental health and experience of pain can last much longer. Researchers estimate that 70% of people who receive ketamine for PTSD, severe depression, or other mental health conditions experience relief long after the series of infusions is complete. In some cases, patients have experienced a reduction in symptoms for several years before requiring an additional “booster” infusion. How Does Ketamine Infusion Therapy Work? Most antidepressants are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs. Essentially, they work by increasing the amount of serotonin in the brain by keeping it from being reabsorbed by the brain after it is produced. For those who have treatment-resistant depression, a different approach is necessary. Many people living with chronic pain also have treatment-resistant depression because of the cyclical relationship between their pain and mental health. SSRIs, like Prozac, are effective for many people, but for those who have treatment-resistant depression, a different approach is necessary. Ketamine infusions can help. Ketamine Infusion Therapy is an alternative to antidepressants. It works differently than other medicines. However, unlike antidepressants, it provides relief from the symptoms of depression in two weeks or less! How Ketamine Therapy is Delivered? Patients with treatment-resistant depression and chronic pain, who need fast and effective relief, can receive a nasal spray called Spravato. They can also receive ketamine via an IV infusion. Both options are given in a doctor’s office, under close supervision. You can receive ketamine in two ways. It is administered through a nasal spray called Esketamine, or an IV infusion. In each method, patients are closely monitored by a doctor.
